An honest and transparent company to work with. I had a rather unusual task of reorganizing my shop and tooling, as well as moving debris and junk in the process. I plan on doing business again with these guys real soon.
On Gunter acreage, Cowboy Site Services takes down worn-out sheds, small barns, fence lines and low decks, and the debris leaves with us. Teardowns are quoted per job, from photos or a walk-through when the place is big. Gunter is roughly 30 minutes up Preston Road from our McKinney base.
Acreage work at the top of the Preston corridor
Gunter sits where SH 289, which is Preston Road this far north, crosses FM 121. It's a small Grayson County town, and the growth coming up from Celina and Prosper is starting to reach it.
Most of what we tear down here sits on acreage. Sheds and outbuildings that have reached the end, old fence lines, and scrap collected on a place over decades.
We usually pair a Gunter trip with other work up that way. That's simply how we plan the route, so ask about timing when you call.
What does a Gunter teardown usually involve?
A typical call is a structure that's been leaning for years and a fence line that went with it. The buyer, the heirs or the owner wants it gone and the ground cleared.
- Storage buildings and shed teardowns, wood or metal, with the contents loaded too
- Small barns and sheds within the limits on our barn and outbuilding page
- Barbed wire, pipe and board fence, posts included where we can reach them
- Low decks and small patio slabs that aren't tied to the house foundation
- Scrap metal and old equipment parts piled behind a shop
Clearing a whole place before a sale
As properties out here change hands, we often get the whole place at once. A house, a barn and a shop all need emptying, and something out back needs to come down.
Those jobs are quoted after we've walked it. The only honest way to price a property like that is to see it.
We'll sort what can go for recycling, set aside anything the family wants kept, and haul the rest. The tear-out happens on the same visits, so you deal with one crew.
Fence lines and portable buildings
Old wire fences tangle, sag and hide in the brush. Our fence removal service rolls the wire, pulls the posts and loads it as we work down the line.
Gunter wants portable buildings tied down, so expect anchors or straps under any you're removing. Point them out in your photos, and we'll plan to cut or unbolt them.
Low decks come apart the same way, board by board. Gunter's deck rules, listed below, matter mostly for whatever you build in its place.
Permits and pricing for a Gunter job
Where a city requires a permit, it's usually pulled by the general contractor or the homeowner. If one is needed and nobody else is pulling it, we can usually pull it ourselves for an added fee that varies by city.
Our light demolition service is quoted per job, not from a menu. A single shed by the drive and a pasture's worth of fence and buildings are priced on what they actually take.
You get an honest estimate up front and a firm price before anything comes down. We settle up at the end, once you've seen the cleared ground.

The Gunter demolition permit form puts clearing the debris on the owner and asks how it'll be disposed of. It also sets a deadline to finish. Hauling it away on our trailer is our part, since the city's bulky pickup won't take bricks, concrete or shingles.
The form also points to state asbestos rules, and asbestos is something we don't handle. Our Collin and Grayson permit guide has more on how the paperwork tends to go.
Light Demolition in Gunter: questions
Do you do light demolition outside Gunter city limits?
Yes. Rural parcels around town are a big part of our work up here. Grayson County handles permits differently outside city limits, as our Grayson County page explains, so check before you start.
Can you take down a barn and empty it the same day?
If it's small enough for light demolition, yes, and the contents go on the same trailer. Send photos of the outside, inside and the ground around it. Bigger barns get a walk-through first.
What about the concrete pad under a shed?
A small pad can come up after the shed is gone, quoted along with the teardown. Large slabs or footings that need a machine are beyond what we do.
