In the older blocks near downtown, it's usually indoor stuff. A sofa that won't fit after a move, a washer that quit, or a spare bedroom filled with boxes.

Out on the bigger properties, the pile tends to live outdoors. Rusted scrap, old lumber, broken patio sets and whatever's stacked behind the shop all fit on the trailer.

CWD collects bulk every week on trash day, capped at 2 cubic yards with no single item over 150 pounds. That's laid out on CWD's Van Alstyne page.

Brush has no volume cap, but it must be tied in bundles up to 4 by 2 feet and 50 pounds. Loose brush gets left behind.

Commercial construction and remodel debris is excluded, along with tires, batteries and propane. For paint and chemicals, CWD runs a monthly door-side program that you book two weeks ahead.

The 150-pound limit rules out plenty. An old chest freezer, a cast-iron tub or a solid wood armoire can run past it, and we carry those out for you.

We can't take tires either, so set those aside for a separate trip. Everything else on our list rides on the same trailer.

We do light teardown on acreage, such as small sheds and worn-out fence runs. Anything structural, or anything needing heavy machinery, is outside our work.

Van Alstyne's permits page lists demolitions, and removing an accessory building, among work that needs a building permit. Each teardown is quoted per job once we've seen it.

A permit, where the city wants one, is normally pulled by the homeowner or the general contractor. When it's needed and no one else is pulling it, we usually can, for an extra fee that depends on the city.
