Above-Ground Pool Removal in McKinney, TX

Cowboy Site Services takes down, loads and hauls off above-ground pools in McKinney, Frisco and across Collin County, and leaves the area clean. The liner, walls, rails, frame and any deck around it can all go in one trip. We only do above-ground pools, and each job is quoted per job from photos.

An above-ground pool that nobody swims in anymore takes up a big piece of the yard. The liner fades, the water turns green, and the frame starts to rust. Sooner or later you just want the grass back.

Taking one down yourself is a bigger job than it looks. The walls are long sheets of metal with sharp edges, and the parts don't fit in a trash can. We take it apart, load it on our 14-foot dump trailer and haul it off the same trip.

To be plain about it, this page is about above-ground pools only. We don't do in-ground pool demolition or removal.

What we can't take

Hazardous material stays off our trailer, and so do tires. Everything else is usually fine — text a photo if you're not sure.

  • Wet paint and chemicals
  • Motor oil
  • Asbestos
  • Ammunition
  • Tires
  • In-ground pools of any kind
  • Draining the pool. The water has to be out before we arrive.
  • Electrical work on a hardwired pump
  • Regrading, leveling or filling the yard afterward
  • Pool chemicals, which are on our list of things we don't take

Where your stuff goes

Steel walls, rails and uprights get pulled for recycling when it's clean metal. A pump, ladder or filter in usable shape can go to area charities. The liner and mixed debris go to the landfill the proper way.

Swept before we pull out

Loading the trailer isn't the end of the job. We sweep the floor, slab or driveway before we leave, so the space is ready to use that day. You pay once you've looked it over.

How does above-ground pool removal work?

It comes down in stages. The water goes first, then the liner comes out. After that, the top rails come off and the uprights and wall panels come apart.

We load each piece as it comes down, so nothing sits in your yard. Once it's all on the trailer, we rake up the area and leave it clean.

  • Send photos for a quote.
  • Pick a time.
  • We haul it off and sweep up.

Does the pool need to be drained first?

Yes. The water has to be out before we can take anything apart. Draining is on you, and a pump makes it go a lot faster.

Before you start, check your city's rules for where pool water can go. For example, the City of Allen's stormwater page lists pool draining among common examples of illicit discharge to the storm sewer. Our guide to taking down an above-ground pool covers draining and the steps after it.

Pull out the pool chemicals too. They're on our list of things we can't take.

What about the deck around the pool?

A lot of above-ground pools have a wood deck built around them. When the pool goes, the deck usually has no reason to stay.

That deck is our deck removal work, and we can quote both together. It all leaves on the same trip, on one invoice.

What should I send for a quote?

A few photos tell us most of what we need. Size, wall type and access are what change the work. Gates, slopes and a long walk to the driveway all count.

  • The whole pool, from a couple of angles
  • Whether it's soft-sided or steel-walled, and roughly how big
  • Any deck, steps or fencing built around it
  • The path from the pool to the driveway
  • Whether the pump is plugged in or hardwired

Pool removal in Frisco, McKinney and nearby towns

We're based in McKinney and take down pools across Collin County. Frisco homeowners can find local details on our Frisco pool removal page.

Each city sets its own permit rules for taking down a pool. Where a city requires a permit, it's usually pulled by the general contractor or the homeowner. If one is needed and nobody else is pulling it, we can usually pull it ourselves for an added fee that varies by city.

Clearing the rest of the backyard

If the pool is going, other things often are too. An old hot tub, a trampoline or a playset can ride out on the same trailer.

Our hot tub, trampoline and playset removal covers those. One trip, one quote, and the yard is yours again.

“I especially loved that I was able to just send photos of my items and get a quote instantly vs the companies that want to “come see the stuff” before giving an estimate.”

How above-ground pool removal is priced

Above-ground pool removal is quoted per job, because a small soft-sided pool and a steel-walled pool with a deck aren't the same work. Send photos showing the whole pool, any deck around it and the path to the driveway. We'll give you an honest estimate up front, with the tear-down and the haul-off quoted together.

The price is firm before anything comes down, and you pay at the end once you're satisfied. If the pool is already down and stacked, the pieces can be priced as a haul-off load by how much trailer space they take.

A shed teardown and a bathroom gut aren't the same work, so we don't publish one number for both. Send photos and we'll quote the tear-out and the haul-off together.Debris you've already torn out and stacked is priced as a haul-off load:

  • Minimum Pickup

    from$189

A handful of items already set out and easy to reach.

  • Half Trailer Load

    from$515

One emptied room, a stuffed garage bay, or a decent pile out back.

  • Full Trailer Load

    from$759

Full cleanouts, big moves, estate jobs, and heavy remodel debris.

Common questions

Do you remove in-ground pools?

No. We only take down and haul off above-ground pools.

How much does above-ground pool removal cost?

We quote pools per job instead of publishing a number. Size, wall type and whether there's a deck around it all change the work. Send photos and you'll get one price for the tear-down and the haul-off.

Do I have to drain the pool before you come?

Yes. The water has to be out before we start. Check your city's rules for where pool water can go before you drain it.

Can you haul off a pool I already took down?

Yes. Once it's in pieces, it's a haul-off load. It's priced by how much room it takes on the trailer.

Do you take the pump, filter and ladder too?

Yes, they go with the pool. If the pump is hardwired, have an electrician disconnect it before we arrive.

Will you fill in or level the spot afterward?

No, regrading and filling the yard isn't our work. We take the pool away and leave the area raked and clean.
