A Fall Garage Cleanout Checklist for North Texas

Fall is the time to clear the garage so your cars can park inside before severe weather hits North Texas. Sort it in one weekend, set aside what stays, and have the rest hauled in one trip. Cowboy Site Services prices a garage haul-off by trailer space, starting at $189, with a firm quote before loading.

Why clear the garage in the fall?

Around our shop, the fall reminder is simple. Now is the time to get the garage cleaned out so you can park your cars inside before severe weather reaches North Texas.

A car in the driveway takes whatever the sky throws at it. A car in the garage doesn't. For most families, the only thing standing between the two is a few years of boxes, bikes and old furniture.

Fall also gives you better working weather. Hauling boxes out of a hot garage in summer wears people down fast. A cooler Saturday makes the whole job feel smaller.

Step 1: Pick a goal and a deadline

Start with one clear goal, like "two cars inside" or "one car plus the workbench." That goal decides what stays and what goes. Without it, everything feels worth keeping.

Then pick a date for the haul-off and put it on the calendar. A deadline turns a someday project into a weekend project. If you want a full room-by-room list, our garage cleanout checklist walks through it.

Step 2: Sort into keep, donate and haul

Pull everything onto the driveway in three zones: keep, donate and haul. Keep goes back in, donate gets set aside, and haul is everything else.

Be honest about the usual suspects. These tend to pile up in North Texas garages:

  • Old furniture moved out "for now" during a past update
  • Exercise equipment nobody uses
  • Kids' bikes, outgrown toys and sports gear
  • Broken lawn equipment and old grills
  • Moving boxes that never got unpacked
  • Leftover building scraps from past projects
  • Old TVs, monitors and dead electronics

Step 3: Pull out what we can't haul

Garages hide a lot of half-used cans. We can't take wet paint, chemicals, motor oil, tires or ammunition. Set those aside before haul day so the load goes smoothly.

For safe drop-off options, see our guide to household hazardous waste in Collin County. It points you to the right programs for your city.

Step 4: Book one haul-off instead of ten trips

Once the haul pile is set, you have two choices. You can make trip after trip in your own car, or you can have it all loaded at once.

Our garage and attic cleanout service is built for this moment. We carry everything out, load the trailer and sweep up behind us. You don't need to drag heavy pieces to the curb first.

Send photos for a quote. Pick a time. We haul it off and sweep up.

What does a fall garage cleanout cost?

Pricing is based on how much room your load takes on our 14-foot trailer. A minimum pickup starts at $189. A half trailer load starts at $515, and a full trailer load starts at $759.

Text a few photos and you'll get an honest estimate up front. We confirm a firm quote on site before anything is loaded, and it doesn't change after you say go.

There's no fuel surcharge and no labor add-on. You pay at the end, once you're satisfied.

Where does the garage junk go?

Usable furniture and household goods go to area charities when we can place them. Metal and electronics get pulled for recycling. The rest is disposed of properly.

If you've set aside a donate pile, tell us when we arrive. We'll load it separately so it doesn't end up mixed in with the trash.

Keep it clear through the winter

A cleared garage stays clear when everything has a home. Put shelves up before the boxes creep back. Keep one bin by the door for donations so it never becomes a pile again.

Use the extra space for what fall and winter bring. Patio cushions, holiday bins and the lawn mower all fit better when the floor is open.
