Flooring & Carpet Removal in McKinney & Collin County, TX

Cowboy Site Services pulls up old carpet, pad, tile, vinyl and wood flooring in McKinney and Collin County, then hauls it off. Tear-out is quoted per job from photos. Flooring you already pulled up is hauled as a load, priced by trailer space.

Pulling up old flooring sounds simple until you're on your knees with it. Carpet comes up with the pad under it and a row of tack strip nailed around every wall. Tile comes up with its mortar, and glued-down vinyl fights you the whole way.

We pull it up and haul it off on the same trip, on one invoice. A room or two of carpet, or a floor coming out before a remodel, is the kind of job our light demolition crew takes.

Tell us what the flooring is, how many rooms, and what's staying. We're insured, and you deal with the owners, not a call center.

What we can't take

Hazardous material stays off our trailer, and so do tires. Everything else is usually fine — text a photo if you're not sure.

  • Wet paint and chemicals
  • Motor oil
  • Asbestos
  • Ammunition
  • Tires
  • Asbestos, including tearing out materials that contain it
  • Grinding a slab smooth for the next floor. That takes equipment.
  • Subfloor repair or leveling
  • Installing the replacement floor

Where your stuff goes

Old carpet, pad, tile and mixed flooring debris are disposed of properly. Clean metal like transition strips and stair nosing gets pulled for recycling when there's enough of it. Furniture moved out along the way can go to area charities if it's in good shape.

Swept before we pull out

Loading the trailer isn't the end of the job. We sweep the floor, slab or driveway before we leave, so the space is ready to use that day. You pay once you've looked it over.

Can you haul the old carpet I already pulled up?

Yes. Rolls of carpet, bags of pad and stacks of tile you or your installer already pulled go out as construction debris. That's priced by how much room it takes on the trailer.

A Minimum Pickup starts at $189, a Half Trailer Load at $515 and a Full Trailer Load at $759. Stack it near the door or in the garage, and we'll confirm the price before loading.

Old carpet is bulky and wet pad is heavy. Photos of the pile are the quickest way to a fair number.

How does flooring removal go?

You move furniture out of the room first, or tell us it's going too. Carpet gets cut into strips we can roll and carry, then the pad comes up, then the tack strip.

Hard flooring is slower. Tile comes up with its mortar, and glued vinyl or wood gets pried off the subfloor in pieces.

Everything gets loaded as it comes up. The room is swept before we pull out, ready for the installer.

Could my old flooring have asbestos in it?

Older vinyl tile and the adhesive under it can. Have an older floor tested before anyone pulls it.

Asbestos is on the list of things we won't take. If testing turns it up, that part of the job goes to an accredited professional first.

If the test comes back clear, send us the photos. We'll quote the tear-out from there.

Where does a flooring job stop?

We take the finish flooring up to the subfloor or slab. Repairing or leveling the subfloor is your installer's work.

Grinding a slab smooth takes equipment, and that's outside what we do. Tile thinset left on the slab is usually part of the installer's prep.

Tell us what's staying, like thresholds, stair treads or a hallway that isn't changing. We stop where you tell us.

Is flooring part of a bigger remodel?

Often it is. Floors tend to come out alongside vanities, cabinets, drywall and old appliances.

If so, we can quote the whole tear-out together as interior demolition, on one trip and one invoice. Our remodel tear-out checklist helps you plan the order of work.

We unhook standard plug-in and water-line connections ourselves. Anything hard-plumbed into gas needs a plumber to disconnect it first.

Do I need a permit to remove flooring?

Rules for interior work are set by each city and differ from town to town. Where a city requires a permit, it's usually pulled by the general contractor or the homeowner. If one is needed and nobody else is pulling it, we can usually pull it ourselves for an added fee that varies by city.

Our guide to demolition permits by city is a good starting point. Your installer may already know the local rules too.

“I especially loved that I was able to just send photos of my items and get a quote instantly vs the companies that want to “come see the stuff” before giving an estimate.”

How flooring & carpet removal is priced

Flooring tear-out is quoted per job, never with a flat number, because carpet and tile aren't the same work. Send photos for an honest estimate, then a firm quote for the tear-out and haul-off together before we start. You pay at the end, once you've looked the rooms over.

A shed teardown and a bathroom gut aren't the same work, so we don't publish one number for both. Send photos and we'll quote the tear-out and the haul-off together.Debris you've already torn out and stacked is priced as a haul-off load:

  • Minimum Pickup

    from$189

A handful of items already set out and easy to reach.

  • Half Trailer Load

    from$515

One emptied room, a stuffed garage bay, or a decent pile out back.

  • Full Trailer Load

    from$759

Full cleanouts, big moves, estate jobs, and heavy remodel debris.

Common questions

Do you do carpet removal?

Yes. We pull up the carpet, the pad and the tack strip, and it all leaves on the same trip. Carpet you've already pulled is hauled by trailer space.

How much does flooring removal cost?

We quote it per job instead of publishing a number. What the flooring is, how many rooms, and access all change the work. What drives demolition cost explains the main factors.

How do I rip up carpet myself?

Cut it into strips you can roll and carry, pull the pad, then pull the tack strip around the walls. The strip is sharp, so wear gloves. Once it's up, we can haul the rolls off.

Can you take out tile floors?

Yes. Tile comes up with its mortar still on it, and it's heavy. A tiled bathroom is often part of a full bathroom demolition, so send photos of the whole room.

Do you take laminate and vinyl plank?

Yes. Floating floors click apart and come up fast, while glued plank takes more prying. Both leave on the trailer with the rest of the job.

Can you take the drywall out on the same job?

Yes. Walls and floors often come out together on a remodel. See drywall removal for how that part works.
