Carport Removal in McKinney & Collin County, TX

Cowboy Site Services takes down old carports in McKinney and Collin County and hauls the panels, frame and posts off the same trip. Freestanding metal carports are the usual job. Each one is quoted per job from photos, with the tear-down and haul-off on one price.

An old carport gets tired fast in North Texas weather. Panels rattle loose, rust eats the legs, and a bad storm can leave the whole frame leaning. Once it's past saving, it's a big metal thing you can't fit in a bin.

We take it apart and haul it off on the same trip, on one invoice. Carports are one of the outdoor jobs in our light demolition service, alongside sheds, pergolas and decks.

Send photos, and you'll know up front whether it's a job for us. We're insured, and you deal with the owners, not a call center.

What we can't take

Hazardous material stays off our trailer, and so do tires. Everything else is usually fine — text a photo if you're not sure.

  • Wet paint and chemicals
  • Motor oil
  • Asbestos
  • Ammunition
  • Tires
  • Carports tied into the house's roof or framing. That's structural.
  • Bigger slabs or the driveway under it
  • Post footings that need a machine
  • Electrical work on lights wired into it

Where your stuff goes

Carport panels and framing are mostly metal, so clean metal gets pulled for recycling rather than buried. Mixed debris and rotted wood are disposed of properly. Where your junk goes explains how a load gets sorted.

Swept before we pull out

Loading the trailer isn't the end of the job. We sweep the floor, slab or driveway before we leave, so the space is ready to use that day. You pay once you've looked it over.

How do you take down a metal carport?

Roof panels come off first, along with the trim and screws. Then the trusses and bracing, then the posts.

Everything gets loaded as it comes down, so there's no pile of sharp-edged panels sitting in the driveway. Rusted bolts get cut rather than fought.

When the last post is on the trailer, we sweep up the screws and small scraps. You get your driveway back clean.

What if the carport is attached to the house?

How it's attached is the limit worth knowing. A freestanding kit next to the house is usually straightforward.

A carport tied into the house's roof or framing is structural, and structural work is outside what we do. Our explainer on light versus structural demolition covers why attached covers sit close to that line.

Send a clear photo of where it meets the house. We'll tell you up front which side of the line it's on.

Does the slab come out with the carport?

Not as part of the carport job. Posts bolted to a slab come off their anchors, and the slab stays.

A small pad can be quoted on its own as concrete removal. A bigger slab, the driveway, or anything that needs heavy equipment is outside what we do.

Posts set into the ground in concrete are the part to photograph up close. If they need a machine, you'll hear it before we quote.

Should I take down a carport myself?

A small freestanding kit can be a weekend project if you have a helper, a ladder and a drill. The catch is the panels, which are wide, sharp at the edges and awkward to carry in wind.

Then the metal has to go somewhere. Long panels and frame pieces don't fit in a pickup bed or a city cart.

If you've already taken it apart and stacked the pieces, we can just haul the pile, priced by trailer space. A Minimum Pickup starts at $189, a Half Trailer Load at $515 and a Full Trailer Load at $759.

Do I need a permit to take down a carport?

Permit rules for taking down a carport are set by each city and differ from town to town. Where a city requires a permit, it's usually pulled by the general contractor or the homeowner. If one is needed and nobody else is pulling it, we can usually pull it ourselves for an added fee that varies by city.

Start with our city-by-city permit guide, then confirm with your building department.

How to get ready for carport removal

Prep is short. Most of it is clearing the space underneath.

  • Move vehicles, trailers and anything stored under it.
  • Photograph where it attaches to the house, if it does.
  • Tell us if there's lighting or an outlet wired to it, and have an electrician make it safe.
  • Point out anything stored under it that's going too.
  • Check with your city on whether a permit is needed.

“I especially loved that I was able to just send photos of my items and get a quote instantly vs the companies that want to “come see the stuff” before giving an estimate.”

How carport removal is priced

Carports are quoted per job, never with a published number, because size and how it's anchored change the work. Send photos for an honest estimate, then a firm quote for the tear-down and haul-off together before anything comes apart. You pay at the end, once you've looked it over.

A shed teardown and a bathroom gut aren't the same work, so we don't publish one number for both. Send photos and we'll quote the tear-out and the haul-off together.Debris you've already torn out and stacked is priced as a haul-off load:

  • Minimum Pickup

    from$189

A handful of items already set out and easy to reach.

  • Half Trailer Load

    from$515

One emptied room, a stuffed garage bay, or a decent pile out back.

  • Full Trailer Load

    from$759

Full cleanouts, big moves, estate jobs, and heavy remodel debris.

These guys are good. Not only did they do a perfect job but also their knowledge on building materials and how to disassemble my built in grill was quite impressive. Unbelievably friendly. Unbelievably professional. Unbelievably worth it. If you need…

Common questions

Do you remove carports?

Yes. We take it apart and haul it off on the same trip. If it's tied into the house's roof or framing, that part is structural and outside what we do.

How much does carport removal cost?

We quote carports per job instead of publishing a number. Size and how it's anchored change the work. Our breakdown of tear-out cost factors explains the rest.

Can you clear out the junk stored under it too?

Yes. Old tools, lawn gear and odds and ends stored under it can go on the same load as junk removal. Tires and motor oil are on our list of things we don't take.

Can you take a shed or pergola the same visit?

Often, yes. A shed teardown or pergola removal can be quoted with the carport. Send photos of each.

Do you take enclosed metal carports?

Yes, when they stand on their own. Side panels and gable ends come off first, then the roof and frame, just like an open carport.

What about a storm-damaged carport?

If it's down or leaning, keep people and vehicles clear and send photos. Panels already on the ground are still part of the same job.
