In McKinney, junk removal from Cowboy Site Services starts at $189 for a Minimum Pickup. Half Trailer Loads start at $515 and Full Trailer Loads at $759, priced by trailer space with no fuel, labor or distance add-ons. You get an estimate from photos and a firm quote on site before anything is loaded.
What are the price tiers?
We price every haul-away by how much of our 14-foot dump trailer it fills. There are three starting points, and the examples come straight from our pricing page.
- Minimum Pickup, from $189: a handful of items already set out and easy to reach. Think a couch and a couple of chairs, one appliance out of the garage, or a small curb pile.
- Half Trailer Load, from $515: one emptied room, a stuffed garage bay, or a decent pile out back. A bedroom or home office cleared out fits here, and so does a bathroom's worth of remodel debris.
- Full Trailer Load, from $759: full cleanouts, big moves, estate jobs and heavy remodel debris. Examples are a whole-house cleanout, a two-car garage packed floor to ceiling, or a kitchen tear-out.
What drives the cost of a junk pickup?
Space on the trailer is the main thing. A recliner and a box spring take a sliver of room, while a garage full of furniture, boxes and old tools takes much more.
The tiers are starting points, and the firm quote reflects your actual load. That's why we ask what's going, not just how many pieces there are.
- Volume: how much room the load takes once it's stacked on the trailer.
- Item mix: bulky but light things, like furniture, fill space fast. Compact, dense things, like boxes of books, take less room.
- Heavy materials: concrete, dirt and shingles are a different kind of load. Send photos so we can size it honestly before we quote.
- What's on the list: we don't take wet paint and chemicals, motor oil, asbestos, ammunition or tires. Those go through city hazardous waste programs.
What doesn't change the price?
Plenty of things people expect to cost extra don't. There's no fuel surcharge, no labor add-on and no distance surcharge anywhere in our service area.
Carrying is part of the job. If it's upstairs, in the attic, or in the back corner of the yard, getting it out is what you're paying for.
Stairs, long walks and awkward turns don't change the number either. The quote covers the load, not the effort it takes to reach it.
How do photo quotes work?
Text us a few photos of what's going, from a couple of angles if you can. We'll send back an honest estimate based on how much trailer space it looks like.
When we arrive, we look it over and confirm a firm quote before anything is loaded. Once you say go, that number doesn't change.
Payment comes at the end, once the load is gone and you're satisfied. Our post on how photo quotes work walks through it step by step.
Is demolition priced the same way?
No. Light demolition, like a shed teardown, deck removal or bathroom tear-out, is quoted per job. The work varies too much for a flat starting price.
If the material is already pulled and stacked, hauling it off is priced by trailer space like any other load. Our light demolition services page explains what we take on.
What does it cost to haul it yourself?
McKinney gives residents some free options, and they're worth using when they fit. McKinney's residential trash page allows up to 12 free bulky item collections a year, by appointment.
The city charges a fee after the 12th collection or for excessive quantities. McKinney households also get their first two drop-off visits a month free, with a recent water bill and matching Texas license.
Beyond that, NTMWD's disposal sites charge by the ton with a one-ton minimum, and the 121 landfill takes cards only. Add a borrowed trailer and a lost Saturday, and a self-haul isn't always the bargain it looks like.
Junk removal or a dumpster?
A dumpster sits in your driveway for days and you do all the loading. We do the loading and leave the same day, with the driveway swept.
For a slow remodel, a dumpster can make sense. For a garage, a move-out or a pile of furniture, a single haul is usually simpler. Our junk removal vs. dumpster rental guide compares the two honestly.
How to keep your junk removal cost down
A little prep can drop a load into a smaller tier. None of it is required, but it helps.
- Break down cardboard boxes and stack them flat.
- Put city-eligible items out on your bulk day first, within McKinney's size limits.
- Pull out anything worth donating or selling before we arrive.
- Group everything in one spot when it's easy, so the photos show the full load.
- Book everything at once, so it all leaves in one trip.
