About Denison
Denison is the top of our range — about fifty minutes up from McKinney, right before Lake Texoma. It's an old railroad town with the housing stock to prove it, and the Eisenhower Birthplace downtown is a reminder of how far back it goes.
Being this far north, we schedule Denison work in advance rather than same-day, and we're straight with you about that instead of promising a window we'd have to break.
What comes up in Denison
Denison's older homes around downtown are the kind of place where estate and downsizing cleanouts come up — properties that have been in the same family a long time and finally need to be cleared.
The lake is the other side of it. Cabins and weekend places get emptied when they sell or change hands, and lake property tends to collect patio furniture, old appliances and the odds and ends that pile up between visits.
What do Denison homeowners hire us to haul?
Older homes near downtown often hold decades of furniture, dishes and stored boxes. When a family is ready to let the house go, we clear it room by room and set aside anything you want kept.
Lake places bring a different load. Weathered patio furniture, a tired sleeper sofa, an old chest freezer and odds and ends left from weekends at the water.
It starts with photos by text. We set a date together, then load, haul and sweep before we leave. Furniture in good shape can go to area charities, and our furniture removal page explains how that works.
How does Denison's curbside bulk collection work?
Denison collects curbside bulk six times a year, in February, April, June, August, October and December, according to the city's bulk collection page. Each home gets one pile of 2 cubic yards or less.
Piles can go out no earlier than 7 a.m. the Saturday before and must be out by 6:30 a.m. Monday of collection week. Construction debris, chemicals, household hazardous waste, wet paint and tires are all excluded.
Our Sherman and Denison guide lays out both cities' programs side by side.
What about the Residential Collection Station?
Denison runs a Residential Collection Station at 300 W FM 84 for residents inside city limits. You'll need an active water account, a picture ID and a current water bill.
It's open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8 to 5, plus Saturday 8 to noon. Contractors and landlords can't use it, and it turns away tires, chemicals, construction material and hazardous waste.
When does hiring a hauler beat the city in Denison?
Bulk comes around every other month, so a missed set-out window can mean a two-month wait. That's hard to plan around when a house is on the market.
The 2-cubic-yard pile limit is small for a whole-house clear-out. Landlords are also shut out of the collection station, which makes a rental turnover harder to handle alone.
We take care of the loading and the drive. Every load is priced by the trailer space it fills, with no distance surcharge for the trip north.
