Celina picks up bulk and bundled brush twice a month with no scheduling, on your Yellow Week or Blue Week service day. Bulk is capped at 2 cubic yards per pickup, about the size of a washing machine. Tied brush is unlimited if each bundle is 4 by 2 feet and 50 lb or less.
Yellow Week or Blue Week? Reading Celina's calendar
CWD, the city's contracted hauler, collects bulk and bundled brush twice a month with no scheduling. Pickup lands on your regular service day. Get everything to the curb by 7 a.m., per Celina's bulk and brush collection schedule.
Celina's trash and recycling page splits homes into two groups:
- Yellow Week: the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month
- Blue Week: the 2nd and 4th weeks
- Week one is the first full week of the month
Two cubic yards goes fast
Celina caps bulk at 2 cubic yards per pickup. The city compares that to a standard washing machine.
A loveseat and a side table may fill one pickup. Items go at the curb in front of the house.
The twice-monthly rhythm helps. A bigger clear-out can go out in two rounds a month instead of one.
Brush: no cap on tied bundles
Tied brush has no quantity limit in Celina. Each bundle can be up to 4 by 2 feet and 50 lb.
Loose brush is another story. Residents with loose brush or bulk over the limits are encouraged to contact CWD for a custom collection quote.
Keep grass clippings and leaves out of the storm drain. Celina's stormwater page asks residents to compost them or use proper yard waste collection.
Over the limit: CWD's three-photo quote
For excess bulk, CWD gives a custom quote based on three photos. They want the front, back and side of the pile.
Reach CWD at 972-392-9300, option 2, or customerservice@cwd.to.
Our quotes start the same way: text photos and get an honest estimate, then the price is confirmed on site before loading. We also carry items out from the garage, attic or backyard, so nothing has to reach the curb first.
Cart rules that push things into bulk
Celina's carts have limits of their own. A cart over the collection arm's 100-pound lifting limit, or holding prohibited materials, won't be serviced.
Construction debris, tires, wood, hazardous materials and very heavy objects are excluded from cart collection.
Just moved in? CWD offers Celina residents a one-time cardboard collection for extra moving and packaging materials.
Builder leftovers and move-in clutter
Celina's growth leaves a lot of packaging, crating and offcuts in fresh garages. Construction debris and wood are out of the cart, and a 2-yard bulk pile won't hold much of it.
We haul that kind of leftover by trailer space, along with boxes and furniture that didn't fit the floor plan. Our construction debris page explains how a remodel or build haul-off works.
Furniture in good shape can go to area charities instead of the curb. We set those pieces aside on our jobs whenever we can.
Clean Sweep: three drop-off events a year
Celina's Public Works Department and CWD host three Clean Sweep events each year. They take bulk trash, yard waste, appliances, shredding, electronic waste and household hazardous waste. Donations to Grace Bridge are collected too.
Tires, refrigerators, freezers, equipment containing fuels or oils, and medications aren't accepted. Check the Clean Sweep page for event dates.
An event suits a car-load of mixed odds and ends. A full garage or a sectional is a bigger lift, and that's where a trailer helps.
Hazardous chemicals: the Frisco voucher
The City of Celina doesn't collect hazardous household chemicals. Instead, residents can join a household hazardous chemical voucher program with the City of Frisco.
Vouchers are sold at the permit desk in Celina City Hall, 142 N. Ohio Dr. We don't take wet paint, chemicals or motor oil, so the hazardous waste guide lists other routes.
Draining a pool or spa before it goes
Taking out an above-ground pool or hot tub? Celina says pool and spa water should de-chlorinate for at least three days before it enters the storm drain. The city notes that stormwater flows untreated into local water bodies.
Our above-ground pool removal guide walks through the rest of that job.
When is a hauler the better call in Celina?
Two yards per pickup is tight for a garage clear-out or a move. A hauler is faster when the pile is over the cap, includes a fridge, or can't reach the curb by 7 a.m.
Celina is about 25 minutes from our base in McKinney. Send us photos for a quote, pick a time, and we haul it off and sweep up. Loads are priced by trailer space: Minimum Pickup from $189, Half Trailer Load from $515, Full Trailer Load from $759.
